When the Texans drafted DeVier Posey in the 3rd round despite work ethic and character concerns, it was a surprise pick. Posey has all the physical talent, but has never lived up to it on the field and has had some off the field issues. He was also underwhelming in the Senior Bowl, frustrating coaches in practice. It appears Posey is not done frustrating coaches as his new Head Coach, Gary Kubiak, has reportedly been “hollering at” Posey more than any player, according to houstontexans.com.
This is notable because Kubiak has gone out of his way to praise 4th round rookie Keshawn Martin, as well as 2011 undrafted free agent Lester Jean. It appears that both of those guys are ahead of Posey on the depth chart, as are veterans Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter. He still has upside, but I’d bet against Posey having any sort of impact as a rookie. He appears to be having trouble getting his head back in the game after missing 10 games last season with suspension.
