Rob Sims is a starting guard for the Detroit Lions who played last season at 300 pounds. However, he has bulked up this offseason to 315. Often when offensive linemen gain a significant amount of weight in the offseason, it’s a bad thing, but while Sims acknowledges this will hurt his quickness, it sounds like it was done with the blessing of the coaching staff. ProFootballFocus graded Sims as the Lions’ top offensive lineman last season. We’ll have to see if the added weight helps, hurts, or has no effect.
