Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Giants: 2018 Week 1 NFL Pick

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) at New York Giants (0-0)

The Jaguars won 10 games last season and they were even more dominant than that suggests, as they finished 2nd in first down rate differential, 3rd in point differential, and came within a few plays of making the Super Bowl. It helped that they had an easy schedule and relatively few injuries, but they remain healthy for now and open the season with a relatively easy game against the Giants.

At first glance, the Giants look much improved with the addition of Saquon Barkley and the return of Odell Beckham from injury, but they still have major problems on the offensive line and at quarterback and their defense is not nearly as good as it was when they made the postseason in 2016, especially with Olivier Vernon out for the start of the season. The Jaguars should be favored by more than a field goal. Their average margin of victory in 2017 was 20.2 points, so this game could easily not be close.

Jacksonville Jaguars 24 New York Giants 16

Pick against the spread: Jacksonville -3

Confidence: High
